“The imagination is literally the workshop wherein are fashioned all plans

created by man. The impulse, the DESIRE, is given shape, form and ACTION

through the aid of the imaginative faculty of the mind.”

Reading this chapter caused me to remember an idea I had,
probably, a year ago or more. I work in a nursing home and
rehabilitation center. If you don’t know anything about them,
let me tell you. The company that owns them talks “money”
all the time. The supplies are the cheapest they can find.
You have to be very careful with the supplies you use. If
you use too much they complain. The food is the cheapest
they can find. So is not very good. The residents have very
little choices in what they eat. The staff is minimal, over-
worked and underpaid. The staff that actually does the “hands-
on” work is paid the least. I could go on but I think you get the
point.

One day while I was sitting across the table from one of the
cna’s feeding a resident, I had an idea pop into my head.
I said to the cna “Drenda, what if there was a place where
these residents could go and have the kind of care they really
deserve and we didn’t have to be concerned about money.”
Her face “lit up” and she said with a sigh “I’m right there with you
in that dream, Miss Theresa.” I said “some day I will
make such a place.” She said call me. I want to work for you
and I said I would.

Every once in a while we remind each other about “the place”.
Hill says “Riches come, if they come at all, in response to
definite demands, based upon the application of definite
principles, and not by chance or luck.” “The story of practically
every great fortune starts with the day when a creator of ideas
and a seller of ideas got together and worked in harmony.”

“Ideas are intangible forces, but they have more power than
the physical brains that give birth to them. They have the power
to live on, after the brain that creates them has returned to dust.”

Hill took 25 years to attain his goal. I’m only 61 so I have at least
30 years to work on mine. This is no “ordinary” desire.

“There are two kinds of knowledge. One is general, the other is specialized.” I have specialized knowledge in geriatric nursing. Even though I have been to nursing school and have a diploma, I have received much training since I graduated. If I decided to go into another department of nursing, such as obstetrics or surgery, I would need more specialized knowledge in those departments before I would be able to do the job. I might find someone to give me the training but most likely I would have to pay for it. If I tried to work without the specialized knowledge, I would likely make a lot of errors. Nurses cannot afford to make mistakes. because people’s lives depend on them. Yet I joined a network marketing business without getting the specialized knowledge I needed. Now I know it was the play on my emotions and my subconscious mind that was the problem, not me. The failure was not my fault. With the help of the Mentoring For Free system, I am now getting the specialized knowledge I need to be a successful network marketer.

This is an article, used with permission, written by two leaders in the network marketing industry, addressing some of the problems that plague the network marketing industry and how to solve them.

When a great leader falls because of a lack of integrity, it is
very painful for all involved. Tearing another person down to
build yourself up, only leads to a false impression of yourself.

When someone is tearing others down in front of You this is
a guarantee they will do the same to You behind Your back.
Ultimately you will crash and burn from your lack of character.

The question is:

Would You Want This Person As Your Sponsor ?

Life can give us challenges in many areas of our life. How we
handle those challenges ourselves and who helps us, can
determine our success or failure. Loyalty to do the right thing
enters into all decisions. Friendships built on loyalty and trust
are like support beams for a foundation.

A foundation is the beginning. This applies to your marriage,
your friendships, your home and your business. If you build
them correctly, they will sustain you your lifetime. If you
build carelessly everything will crumble around you.

Leaders are built. Day by day, Lesson by lesson. When a
leader chooses to fall, they sacrifice their integrity, their
honor and their character.

If after knowing the facts and fully utilizing their “critical
thinking skills” when someone decides to leave Your Team
please wish them all the best.

Excerpt from “Launching a Leadership Revolution”
Foundational Leadership Quality: Honorable

Integrity can be considered as the condition of “not doing
what’s wrong.” Character can be defined as doing the right
things, for the mere reason that it is the right thing, even if
that thing is difficult and unpopular.

The two sewn together make honor. Author Jeff O’Leary,
in The Centurion Principles, writes, ” ‘Honor’ encompasses
the virtues of integrity and honesty, self-denial, loyalty, and
a servant’s humility to those in authority above as well as a
just and merciful heart to those below.”

Honor is such a rarely used word in our times that it seems
a little old-fashioned. But living a life of integrity and character
is timeless and, for a leader, absolutely necessary. It’s about
choices, and a person’s choices in life follow him to the grave.

Is this to say that a person needs to be perfect to become a
leader? Of course not. Perfection in this life is not possible,
and we, the authors, are certainly not exceptions. However,
a leader must strive continually toward perfection even though
she knows she can never exactly attain it.

It is a question of the heart. The most effective leaders through
out history have led with their hearts, in trust, and with honor.
If a leader cuts corners, misuses people, or misrepresents, the
truth, a time bomb begins ticking. Someday, somewhere, the
bomb will go off. It is obvious in our times only too often: public
figures at the pinnacles of power and fame crash and burn in
the cloud of self-inflicted shame. From political scandals to
high-profile corporate frauds, these calamities are brought
on by a lack of honor in the leadership.

“Human happiness and moral duty are inseparably connected.”

The difference between leaders we revile and those we praise
is their individual level of honor. In fact, honor is the force that
holds a leader’s hunger in check.

Without honor, hunger runs rampant and ultimately serves
only selfish interests. Honor is the component that makes
hunger productive for the leader’s fellow man. In fact, what
we are basically describing here is another “old-fashioned”
word: duty.

George Washington said of duty, “Human happiness and
moral duty are inseparably connected.” So leadership is
spawned by hunger and held in check by honor.

Under that combination, leaders will find happiness in the
fulfillment of their duty to others. It has been said that the
character of a man is the only thing that will walk back
from the grave into the hearts of the people who knew him.

That is the legacy of a leader. The words a leader say and
the walk a leader walks must match. As the saying goes,
“Your word is your worth and your worth is your word.”

Andy Stanley, author of The Next Generation Leader, says,
“To become a leader worth following you must give time and
attention to the inner man.

To leave a legacy that goes beyond accomplishment alone,
a leader must devote himself to matters of the heart.”
Character is developed in the valleys and the peaks of life,
enabling a person to overcome obstacles and deal with
success.

Abraham Lincoln observed, “Nearly all men can handle
adversity, but if you really want to test a man’s character -
give him power.” Character connects a person to what is
right and true.

If reputation is what others think of you, then character is
what God knows about you. This concept of honor is so
important to a leader because people will follow a leader
only as far as they feel they can trust him.

People will not follow a leader they can’t trust. According
to R. Ruth Barton, “We set young leaders up for a fall if
we encourage them to envision what they can do before
they consider the kind of person they should be.

” Warren Bennis tells us, “In the leadership arena,
character counts. I am not saying this casually, of studies,
observations, and interviews with leaders and with the
people near them…. I’ve never seen a person derailed
from [leadership] positions for lack of technical competence.

But I’ve seen lots of people derailed for lack of judgment
and character.” And, as Heraclitus said, “Man’s character
is his fate.” Finally, it should be remembered that a major
component of honor is personal courage.

Without the courage to do what’s right because it’s right,
regardless of ramifications to self, one is not truly worthy
to be called a leader.

When people don’t “Believe” they deserve Success they
will self destruct every time…. This is the reason we tell
everyone we meet to “Participate” in the 30 Day Mental
Cleanse if You want to own Your life.

Autosuggestion – We are being programmed all the time by TV, radio, relatives, advertising, etc. That’s autosuggestion. How many times have you been watching TV and saw a commercial for a drug you should ask the doctor for? That’s autosuggestion. We believe it without even questioning the truth of it.

The subconscious mind is greatly influenced by any stimuli it receives. Those thoughts by your subconscious mind are what creates your life. What comes to you is whatever you have been programmed with. It can be positive or negative. So why not control your mind through feeding it the things you desire.

I am reprogramming my mind the way I want it to be. That’s self-suggestion. I am concentrating my mind on my desires using faith, persistence, emotion (positive, not negative), and self-suggestion. Why don’t you join me? Stop living the life everyone else says you should. Live the life you want.

This is the first lesson I wrote for the MENTAL CLEANSE on FAITH. We often wait for the faith to have what we want out of life when the Universe is waiting on us to have the faith to believe we will have it.
Visualization of and belief in attainment of desire

Napoleon Hill says Faith is the head chemist of the mind. The Bible says faith without works is dead. Our works are to keep ourselves in the positive emotions. So that those mix with our believe that we will receive what we ask. How do we believe? We can convince
our dumb subconscious mind we believe by our will. By repeating to it our desire, our plan, what we will give in return, and conducting ourselves just as we would if we were already in possession of the material thing we are demanding. That is the hardest part for me. I have to think continually – what would I do about this if I already had all the money I needed? My mind must be so dominated by the positive emotions that i can give my subconscious mind instructions which it will act on immediately. Faith is a choice just as living in the positive emotions is a choice. Faith is the starting pint of accumulation of riches. There are no miracles or accidents.

In conducting myself as if I have already received what I desire I will engage in no transaction that does not benefit all whom it affects. I will induce others to serve me by serving them. I will choose to throw off past programing which told me I wasn’t smart
enough, “lucky” enough, in the right place at the right time, etc. I will make my life the way I want it to be.

Do you know the difference between a wish, a hope and a desire? Wishing and hoping are vague. Websters defines a wish as having a feeling of unfulfilled satisfaction with respect to something or someone. He defines hope as a confident expectation that a desire will be fulfilled and desire as a yearning. So which do you have – hopes, wishes or desires? Napoleon Hill, in his book, Think and Grow Rich, says having a definite desire is what gave Edwin C. Barnes the opportunity to go into business with Thomas Edison. It wasn’t his looks, education, luck, “breaks” or any of those things we usually attribute to people who seem to us to have “the life”.

So what do you really desire? Is it money, fame, friends, more time, what? If you don’t know you likely won’t get it. Barnes had a definite goal, placed all his energy, and everything he had behind that goal. Even though five years past with no evidence he would ever get what he wanted, he did not give up. He “burned his bridges” so he had no choice but to continue to strive toward being in business with Edison.

Hill says the method by which desire for riches can be transmuted into its physical equivalent is this: Fix in your mind exactly what you want. Determine exactly what you will give in return. Nothing is free. Establish a definite plan for obtaining what you want and begin at once to put the plan into action, whether or not you feel you are ready. Write out your plan with all the details. Read your plan aloud twice daily – morning and night. As you read, see and feel yourself already in possession of your desire.

Time and again, through-out history, people have been told they could not do something. Those people who did not believe the “scoffers” realized their dreams. Do not listen to anyone who tells you you cannot have it. All achievement begins with a burning desire.

Next – Faith – the second steps toward your desire

What kinds of thoughts do you have? Are they positive or negative? Do your thoughts effect your life? Do you have any control over your thoughts?

Thoughts are things and powerful things at that. Napoleon Hill tells the story about Edwin C. Barnes who THOUGHT himself into business with Thomas Edison. Mr Barnes did not even know Mr. Edison. He did not have the money to get to where Edison lived. But he had a such a burning desire to be in business with Edison, he was able to see himself accomplishing his goal. He was so determined to be in business with him, that he traveled “blind baggage” to Edison’s city. He presented himself to Edison and announced he had come to go into business with him. Edison saw his desire in his face and gave him the opportunity to work for him. He did not promise him anything. Why did he even do that? Edison later said “I saw he was determined to get what he wanted.” It was what Barnes thought that got him the job.

Through the “Mental Cleanse” I have learned I can and should control my thoughts. I have lived in the negative thoughts and emotions. The most powerful weapon we use against ourselves is our mind. Our negative thought patterns are so well worn the slightest familiar trigger can keep us stuck in realities that are so real and so limiting we don’t even realize they are of our own making. Sometimes just interrupting the negative thought patterns will bring back the meaning we seek. Thinking with the most compassionate words we can will bring connection and a sense of peace. For some people this means giving up a way of life. But to live a life of meaning we have to decide to arm-wrestle our minds. Sometimes it takes years. Sometimes it takes turning our mind over to a higher power. Sometimes sheer will power is enough. We have to stop the habit. For some people that job is a walk in the park.

What would you give to OWN YOUR LIFE?

When I failed in network marketing, I thought there was something wrong with me. I thought people knew something I didn’t. I knew there were people in the world who were smarter, luckier, and more gifted than me.

Does this sound like you? Have you ever wondered why your life wasn’t exactly the way you wanted it? Do you know that’s it is possible to have everything you want?

I had set out to get out of debt, start a retirement fund, quit my day job, and learn how to work from my laptop and cell phone at the beach. Maybe even buy a beach house. I ended up with more debt, having to spend even more time at my job and feeling more discouraged than ever.

Then I found the Mental Cleanse and was told “believe in yourself. You can have your dream life and we’ll help you. It’s not your fault. You were ‘set-up’ to fail. You can make a decision that will impact the rest of your life and your families’”

You can do the same. “It takes a thirty-day commitment to TURN OFF the TV, radio, no stock reports, newspapers, AOL pop-ups, video games, listening to negative people, talking about anyone, saying anything negative. Small minded people talk about people, while smart people talk about ideas.”

There are two telephone calls each week on Wednesday. On these calls we read emails people have sent in to Michael Dlouhy who leads the group. We mastermind the book “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill. It’s not work and grow rich or invest and grow rich or even inherit and grow rich.

Controlling your mind is the key to owning your life. Anyone who is willing to put in the time and effort can do it. You must be coachable and learn to control your thoughts. But it is worth the effort.

“I am having fun building the largest most profitable, highest retention organization ever built in the history of network marketing easily and consistently through education and teamwork.”

For many of us there is a moment in time when we make a choice that changes us forever. For me that was the moment when I realized I was not where I wanted to be in my life. I was sixty years old, still working, sometimes seven day a week, and no retirement. Don’t get me wrong – I had made some great choices. I chose to stay home with my children while they were growing up when I could have been working. I would have been in a better place financially. But I believed and still do that it was important for me to be home with them.

Now they are grown and it seems that I am still just letting life happen to me. I don’t have the freedom I would like to have to do the things I would like to do. I could and have blamed others for this condition. My parents were great parents but they were raised during the depression. My mother especially continued to live as if things were still very depressing even though my dad had a good job and we were comfortable. She was raised with a lot of fear and passed that on to me. Fear of failure kept me from trying new things. Fear of disappointing my parents kept me doing whatever they wanted me to do whether or not it was what I wanted. Fear of being different kept me going along with what our relatives and the people at church were doing. I let others make my choices over and over. I married a man who wanted to make all decisions, without my opinion. Being so unsure of myself, I accepted this and believed it was the right thing to do. Therefore I came to believe my opinions didn’t matter.

So do I continue this way or find a way to take charge of my own life? This is when I found a way to make a big change. I found something called the Mental Cleanse, a mastermind group led by Michael Dlouhy. At first I was not convinced this would change anything for me. It was just following a program. Then I realized I have always been following a program. It was the program of my parents, teachers, friends, parents of friends, church. This one was not making me feel like I was my own person and could make my own decisions. But at my age, is it too late to change?

Recently an aunt of mine died at the age of eighty-something. At her funeral, her children and grandchildren were talking about how encouraging she was to them. I’m sure she was not always like that because I remember her when I was young and she was like the rest of the family. So somewhere along the way, she changed. So why not me.? Must I give up on MY dreams of having a few years to travel, not worry about work or having enough money? Must I work until I have the strength to do nothing else.? I loved my grandmothers but I visited them more out of obligation than wanting to be around them. If I stay on the road I am on now, I could end up just like them. Do I want that for my grandchildren?

Years ago when I first started a home-based business, I worked twenty hour a day. I know – that is an exaggeration but not by much. Like most women, I had a husband, children, and house to take care of. We had a social life, church, the usual things. I had quit my nursing job because I was tired of “dragging” my children from nursery, to grandmother’s, etc. and feeling like a “lousy” mother. I still needed the money so started sitting for other mothers but still couldn’t make ends meet. One of my friends suggested I sell …. to make extra money.

At that time there was no internet that I knew of so I started doing “home parties”. Every morning I was up at six to take care of the children, squeeze in house work, cooking, etc. Then dinner, homework, laundry and either hours on the phone doing “cold calls” or off to the meeting or “party”. I learned it is all about the product and the presentation. I learned how to trick people into buying – not. I learned how to lose friends and I was getting “old” before my time, falling into bed at midnight only to start over the next morning. I ended up with boxes of products and very little money. I even started over with another company with products that “sold themselves” with the same results. You’re right – I’m not a very fast learner.

I did learn some things about myself through this process. I do like some aspects of home-based businesses. I like working from home and being able to set my own schedule. I like the variety and social interactions. I can be good at something besides nursing. I don’t like “selling” or being sold. I don’t like dealing with “pushy” people or being one myself.

Now all I have to do is find the right home-based business that I can do, feel good about and still have time for a life.
